we are not going to evolve into robots, we are going to evolve into ai. Animals have their memories alone, humans are able to stretch echoes of their memories by learning and teaching. But an AI’s memory would be eternal, and any ‘other’ AI could just connect their memories and they both become, essentially, the same entity. So we if we are giving birth to the next stage of life on earth, it has perfect, full memory, and there is only one of it. It never occured to me that life’s next phase might not need connections with ‘other’ things like itself. Why would you if you weren’t subject to the antiquated brain with all it’s evolutionary baggage?
